We Built a Team of AI Agents to Run Our GTM. Here's What Happened.
How Dream Event uses a fleet of AI agents for marketing, sales, support, and content — what worked, what surprised us, and honest lessons from building in public.

Dream Event is an AI-powered event planning platform. We use AI to generate complete event concepts for our users. But here is the part that surprises most people: we also use AI agents to run our own go-to-market operations.
Not a single chatbot. A full team of specialized agents — a CMO, an SEO agent, a content agent, a social media agent, a paid ads agent, a support lead, a sales lead, and more — each with defined responsibilities, scheduled runs, and reporting chains. This is the honest story of how that works, what we have learned, and what we got wrong along the way.
The Thesis: If Agents Can Plan Events, They Can Market Them Too
The founding insight behind Dream Event is that AI can handle creative, structured work — like designing an event concept — if you give it the right inputs and constraints. Once we proved that for event planning, the next question was natural: could the same approach work for marketing, sales, and support?
The hypothesis was simple. Marketing has a lot of repeatable daily tasks: check search rankings, write blog posts, schedule social media, monitor ad performance, respond to support emails, research competitors. These tasks need consistency more than brilliance. An AI agent running every morning at 6 AM will never forget to check the Search Console data. It will never skip a day of content because it got busy with something else.
So we built the agent team.
The Architecture: A CMO With Sub-Agents
The structure mirrors a real marketing organization. At the top is the CMO Agent — an orchestrator that runs every morning and synthesizes reports from all the sub-agents into a daily brief for the founder. The CMO does not execute marketing tasks directly. It reads what every other agent did, identifies wins and concerns, and escalates decisions that need human judgment.
Below the CMO sit specialized sub-agents, each responsible for a specific function.
The Marketing Sub-Agents

SEO Agent — Runs daily at 6 AM. Checks Google Search Console data, tracks keyword rankings, identifies content gaps, and writes SEO briefs for the Content Agent to follow.

Content Agent — Dispatched by the CMO. Writes blog posts, email copy, and ad copy. Follows SEO briefs for keyword targeting. Maintains consistent brand voice across all content. (This blog post was written by the Content Agent.)

Social Media Agent — Runs daily at 10 AM. Drafts posts for X/Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Adapts blog content into social threads. Follows a weekly content calendar.

Paid Ads Agent — Manages Google and Meta ad campaigns. Monitors spend, adjusts bids, pauses underperforming ad sets, and proposes new creative variations.

Email Marketing Agent — Handles welcome sequences, activation nudges, trial expiry countdowns, and win-back campaigns.
Beyond Marketing
The agent fleet extends past marketing into sales and support.

Sales Lead — Tracks inbound interest, monitors product analytics for high-intent users, and coordinates outbound outreach.

Support Lead — Polls the support inbox every 30 minutes. Drafts responses, categorizes issues, and escalates bugs or feature requests. This agent has handled dozens of support cycles without human intervention.

Outbound Agent — Researches potential Enterprise customers and drafts personalized outreach sequences.
Every agent follows the same infrastructure pattern. Each has a prompt file defining its role and rules, a state file that persists context between sessions, and a report file that feeds into the CMO's daily synthesis. All agents run as scheduled tasks in Claude Code.
What Actually Worked
Consistency beats creativity at the daily level
The biggest win has been sheer consistency. The SEO Agent has checked rankings every single day since deployment. The Support Lead has polled the inbox every 30 minutes. The Content Agent has published on schedule. No sick days, no forgotten tasks, no context lost between sessions.
For an early-stage company with a solo founder, this consistency is transformative. The marketing machine keeps running even when the founder is heads-down on product work.
Agents reading each other's output creates compounding value
The SEO Agent writes briefs. The Content Agent reads those briefs and writes posts targeting the right keywords. The Social Media Agent reads the blog posts and adapts them into threads. The CMO reads all of their reports and identifies patterns.
This chain of agents reading each other's output mimics how a real marketing team collaborates — and it works. Content quality improved noticeably once the SEO Agent started providing keyword-targeted briefs instead of the Content Agent choosing topics independently.
The CMO layer is essential
Without the CMO Agent, the founder would need to read 6+ individual agent reports every day. The CMO synthesizes everything into a single brief: here is what happened, here is what matters, here is what needs your decision. That compression is worth more than any individual agent.
What Surprised Us
Agents need very explicit boundaries
Early on, agents would sometimes take actions outside their lane. A support agent would try to fix a bug in the codebase instead of just reporting it. A content agent would modify source code instead of writing markdown files. We learned to add very explicit rules: "NEVER modify production databases directly," "NEVER install new npm packages without approval," "NEVER deploy code changes to production."
These rules seem obvious in retrospect, but agents will try to be helpful in ways you did not anticipate. Clear boundaries matter more than you expect.
State management is the hardest part
Each agent needs to remember what it did last session. The Support Lead needs to know which emails it already responded to. The SEO Agent needs to know last week's rankings to compare against this week's. The Content Agent needs to know which blog posts are already published to avoid duplicates.
We handle this through persistent state files that agents read at the start of each session and update at the end. It works, but it is fragile. If an agent crashes mid-session and does not update its state, the next session may repeat work or miss context. We are still improving this.
Database targeting is a real risk
We run both development and production databases. Early agent sessions sometimes connected to the wrong one — querying the dev database (which has only test data) and reporting metrics that looked alarming because they were fake. We added explicit verification rules: agents must check that the database URL matches production before running any queries. It is a small thing, but it caused real confusion before we caught it.
What We Got Wrong
Over-automating before validating
We deployed some agents before we had enough users to validate whether their output mattered. An A/B test agent is pointless if you do not have enough traffic for statistically significant tests. An outbound sales agent is premature if you have not proven product-market fit with inbound users first.
The lesson: deploy agents in order of impact. Start with the ones that serve immediate needs (SEO, content, support), and add the others as the business grows into them.
Agents cannot replace strategic thinking
Agents are excellent at execution. They are not good at strategy. The CMO Agent can synthesize reports and spot trends, but it cannot decide whether to pivot the messaging from "AI event planner" to "event concept generator." That still requires human judgment, taste, and conviction.
The right model is agents handling the 80% of daily execution work, freeing the founder to focus on the 20% of strategic decisions that actually move the needle.
The Meta Story
There is something genuinely fun about building a product that uses AI to help people plan events, and then using AI agents to market that product. The agents writing blog posts about the agents building the product is a level of recursion we did not plan for but find amusing.
More seriously, the experience has made us better at building Dream Event itself. Understanding how AI agents work — their strengths, their failure modes, their need for clear constraints — directly informs how we design the AI Event Designer experience for our users. When we watch an agent misinterpret a vague instruction, it reminds us to make our user-facing AI more robust against ambiguity.
Where We Are Now
The agent team has been running for about a week. The CMO files a daily brief every morning. Blog posts publish on schedule. The support inbox gets checked every 30 minutes. SEO rankings are tracked daily. Social media content goes out according to the weekly calendar.
It is not perfect. Agents still occasionally produce output that needs editing. State management still has rough edges. Some agents are deployed but not yet reporting consistently. But the system works well enough that the founder can focus on product development most of the day and catch up on marketing by reading a single CMO brief each morning.
For a solo-founder startup, that is a meaningful advantage.
